Fresh Flowers – General Packing Instructions
These instructions apply to all fresh flower keepsakes unless otherwise noted below.
How to Pack Fresh Flowers
- Ship flowers as fresh as possible.
- Trim stems if needed so flowers fit comfortably in the box.
- Wrap the base of the stems with a damp paper towel.
- Cover the damp paper towel with a small plastic sandwich bag and secure with a rubber band (baggie at stem base only).
- Loosely wrap each flower in newspaper with the top left open for airflow.
- Line the bottom of the box with scrunched-up newspaper.
- Lay flowers on top and loosely surround with more newspaper to prevent shifting.
- Do not use plastic bags or tissue paper, as they can trap moisture and cause sweating or rotting.
- Sending a few extra flowers is always encouraged, as each flower preserves differently.
- Recommended shipping: 1–2 day shipping (next-day preferred, especially in warm weather).
- Avoid shipping over weekends or federal holidays.
To ensure the best preservation results, please send your flowers while they're as fresh as possible. You are welcome to trim the stems down a bit if needed so the flowers fit comfortably in a smaller box. It’s important to wrap the flowers loosely with newspaper—similar to how a florist would package them—with the top left open to allow airflow while still protecting them during transit. If the flowers are wrapped too snugly, trapped humidity can cause them to wilt or develop mold. I recommend 1 to 2 day shipping. Next-day delivery is preferred, especially in warmer temperatures, as it helps ensure your flowers arrive fresh and in the best condition for preservation.
Shipping instructions for fresh flowers must be followed carefully to ensure the best possible outcome for preservation. Improper packing, long delivery time or delays can significantly affect the condition of the flowers upon arrival.
You will receive a notification once your flowers and/or inclusions arrive safely. Any unused ashes, sand, or hair/fur will be returned with your finished keepsake.
